The journey towards financial freedom will be one full of ups and downs. By starting the journey, you’ve already overcome one of the biggest obstacles. Many people never even get started out of fear for the unknown, but you did!
But now you started, the second biggest obstacle to overcome is to keep going. To not get demotivated when there is a setback. To stay consistent and to let compounding work for you, in every possible way you can imagine.
One of the ways to keep you motivated when hitting roadblocks, is to practice keeping a positive outlook in life. I say practice, because a positive mindset might not be coming naturally, especially in the shitty situations life throws at you sometimes. It needs practice.
In this blog post, we will explore three effective ways to cultivate a positive mindset for your journey towards financial freedom.
1. The Daily Highlight Habit
Celebrating your achievements is one of the most important things in order to keep a positive mindset. By writing down one highlight or achievement every day, you keep track of your progress and celebrate your successes, no matter how small they may seem.
This is one of the easiest habits to get started. You only need 3 things:
- One minute every day
- A place to store your highlights
- A reminder so you won’t forget
Personally, I use this habit not just to track achievements, but also to track my favorite moments of the day. It has three massive benefits:
- You will recognize your achievements every day and therefore gain confidence and motivation to keep going.
- Whenever you’re hitting a roadblock, you can come back to this list of achievements to get you back on track.
- It will help you remember more of your life. It is a lot of fun being able to look back at your day-to-day favorite moments.
2. Use your ”failures” to your advantage
You can use your failures to your advantage in two ways. First of all, in any failure you can find a valuable lesson. If you are serious about getting to financial independence, you will need to reflect on both your failures and your successes. You need to know what to keep doing, what to stop doing and what to start doing.
A second advantage is that failures can often be powerful or funny stories. Whether you’re applying to your dream job, starting a business or becoming a content creator, those stories will come to use.
3. Learn to embrace discomfort
There is no personal growth when you stay in your comfort zone. The magic happens when you go outside your comfort zone. Embracing discomfort and taking calculated risks is vital for success. Push yourself to explore new opportunities, learn new skills, and try different approaches to reaching your financial goals. And you will see: as you step out of your comfort zone, you’ll discover hidden strengths, build resilience, and open doors to countless possibilities.
I purposefully challenge myself with tasks outside of my comfort zone. For example, I would hate doing presentations. I would lack the confidence and avoid them at any costs. Nowadays, when I get the chance to do a presentation I put myself forward. I challenge myself to do it anyways. The power you feel after doing that is huge. I mean, I still don’t like it, BUT I am getting better at it and I am no longer avoiding doing presentations.
It is a big win every single time I manage to complete a challenge. That win then goes straight into my daily highlights from #1.
Now it’s up to you!
Practicing a positive mindset is a powerful tool for achieving financial freedom. By writing down your daily highlights, using your failures as empowering stories, and embracing discomfort, you equip yourself with the mental stability necessary to overcome challenges and work yourself towards success. But remember: getting good at positive thinking is also a journey on it’s own and requires practice. Don’t beat yourself up if it doesn’t work 100% of the time, just keep practicing and let us know how it’s working out for you!
